22 down, 18 to go…

October 15, 2008

We are at Day 22 of the 40 Days for Life – just over halfway.  Yesterday, mid-point rallies were held locally and nationally.  I attended both, thanks to technology.  It was encouraging to hear updates from the local and national level.  What a privilege it is to be a part of this massive movement for life!  I feel very connected to the other participants of 40 Days, especially the two thousand or so who visited my home last night via the live streaming web.  It is beautiful to see the Lord use the horrid crime of abortion to bring His people together.  He has raised an impressive army thus far and we have another eighteen days to see what else He has in store for us.

The messages from the rallies were ones of hope.  We were reminded to stay faithful in our prayer, fasting and vigil, but not just remain faithful – we were encouraged to step it up.  It was a nice half-time pep-talk.  We are not out of the woods yet and Satan knows it.

I have a feeling the second half will be more difficult than the first, but do not despair, my fellow 40 Day-ers!  Psalm 37:4 says “Commit your way to God; trust that God will act and make your integrity shine like the sun, your vindication like the noonday.”  Well, we have committed and we trust that God will honor our faithfulness.  The Lord’s vindication for all the aborted babies is near.  God is with us, my friends!
