vegetable art of 2009

January 7, 2010

If you remember from last year, vegetable trays are my signature dish at family events.  I know it seems like the staple “single girl” item to bring, but I love fresh veggies!  If I didn’t bring them, who would?  Besides, I prefer different vegetables than the ones on your basic store-prepared tray.

This year, I continued the ‘abstract art’ theme as it allows for a greater variety of veggies and it is much easier throwing them on the tray as opposed to arranging them in color-coordianted sections.  Even though I went with the easiest method, each of the five trays I made this season was carefully planned and preapared.  Yes – five!  I made two for Thanksgiving (one for snacking and one for supper), one for Christmas Eve, one for Christmas Day and one for the day after Christmas.  Whew!  That was a lot of vegetables, let me just say!  I took photos of all of them except for the day after tray.  I hope you enjoy the colorful vegetable art of 2009!

Mmm, I’m hungry now. Next year I request pickles on the Christmas Eve tray! :-)

I had pickles for the Christmas Eve tray… I just didn’t have room/forgot to put them out. I promise there will be pickles next year!

Have your say...
