come to the living nativity

December 5, 2010

On Sunday, December 12 at 5:30 PM, Instruments of Hope will host a Living Nativity in the Saint Francis Sculpture Garden at Marywood.  I realize this location may deter many Catholics, but this is a great opportunity to support authentic Catholic spirituality by participating in this beautiful devotion:

“In the year 1224, Saint Francis of Assisi recreated the first ever ‘live’ Nativity.  He wanted to bring the actual feeling of the magnificent event of Christ’s birth to the village of Greccio, Italy.  He had locals dress in biblical robes and positioned animals at one of the caves on the side of a hill outside of the village.  On Christmas Eve, families traveled far and wide to witness the spectacle.  Over time the presepio, as it was called in Italy, grew in popularity.”  (Instruments of Hope / Susan Evagelista)

Please join me and the Instruments of Hope next Sunday to participate in an event that honors one of many beautiful traditions of our Faith.
