the great christmas tree hunt

December 14, 2010

My parents, Angelica and I joined several other families on Saturday for the Great Christmas Tree Hunt.  It was quite the production, as it is every year when we embark on our search for the ever elusive “perfect Christmas tree”.  Actually many in our group have given up that endless search in favor of making the process as quick and painless as possible.  My dad, in particular, kept rushing me and Mom as we wandered through the evergreens, scrutinizing each tree.  I have to say, we weren’t nearly as bad as we’ve been in past years.  We picked one in record time!  Well, Mom picked it and I approved it.  Dad didn’t wait for us to second guess our choice or to move on to another patch of trees.  That was it.

The tree was felled and trimmed down to a reasonable eight feet.  It turned out to be a lot chubbier than I would have liked, especially since I had to help Dad haul the massive mess of prickly pine needles up the hill to the truck.  Once we crested the hill, I let Ang take over.  So did Dad.  Here are three short videos of what transpired:

Dad jumped in to give her a hand:

Here’s what Angie had to say:
