a sister’s humble offering

April 21, 2012

I called my brother last night for a bit of advice.  After a good forty minutes of talking through my somewhat complicated question he said, “Sorry, Cilia.  That’s the best I can do.  I wish I had some miracle solution for ya, but that’s all I’ve got.”

“I know, Charles but don’t worry: I wasn’t expecting a miracle.  I mean, I appreciate your advice and all but you aren’t that great.  You did the best you could.”

“Oh, thanks!” Charles was obviously insulted.  But what did he expect?  In exchange for his brotherly advice, I offered him something in exchange: a dose of humility.  That’s what sisters are for!
